Website Redirections

Creating redirecting URLs on your website is a very useful feature. Most commonly, redirects are used to create friendly and easy to share website addresses to take people to the right place on your website.

For example, you may want to create a link that is https://yoursourcelinksite.com/myplan to go to the Personal Action Plan page on your website, which may actually live at https://yoursourcelinksite.com/resources/personal-action-plan. To make this happen, you will need to create a redirecting URL.

On every SiteConnex website, we have installed and configured a redirection plugin to allow you to create custom parameters for website redirects. An important thing to note, is that this redirection plugin software is always monitoring changes to pages and posts, and will automatically create redirections when you change the permalink (including when you modify the title of a page or blog, which may then update the link).

SourceLink has the ability to hard code redirects at our server level. This is done very infrequently. If you find you cannot create or modify a redirect on your own, please reach out to our team and will further diagnose.

How to Create a Redirect URL

  • Sign in to your SiteConnex Website
  • Mouse over Tools and select Redirection from the sub-menu
  • Click Add New button from the top of the page
  • For the Source URL: enter everything after your main domain for the page people will be going from, include the / at the beginning
  • For the Target URL: enter everything after your main domain for the page that people should be redirected to
  • Click Add Redirect

How to Edit or Remove a Redirect URL

  • Sign in to your SiteConnex Website
  • Mouse over Tools and select Redirection from the sub-menu
  • Review the table of URLs shown on this page, mouse over the URL you’d like to modify, and select Edit, Disable, or Delete from the options
  • If you selected Edit, most times the only settings you may need to modify are the Source URL (the page people will be going from), and the Target URL (the page where people will be redirected to)
  • Click Save

How to Bulk Import Redirects

  • Sign in to your SiteConnex Website
  • Mouse over Tools and select Redirection from the sub-menu
  • Click on Import/Export from the top link menu
  • Upload a CSV file using the headers suggested (at minimum- “source URL” and “target URL”)
  • If successful, go back to the Redirections main page and review the table of URL redirects for accuracy
